Nasaru Women CBO was established in 2012 as an indigenous grassroots women led organization working on livelihood issues in primary Kajiado West constituency of Kajiado County. NASARU champions the rights of women and girls among the pastoralist communities through strengthening their capacity to influence policies and decision making processes, address harmful cultural practices and empowering them economically politically and socially. The key activities included enhancing access to banking services as well as exploring strategies of enhancing the enjoyment of the rights of education and health for girls within the community.
The organization has grown and is currently implementing the climate adaptation program supported by the Adaptation Fund and nationally implemented by the National environmental Management Authority (NEMA) as the only women led organization working with indigenous communities.
We are an indigenous grassroot women led organization that strives to empower and champion the rights of women and girls among the pastoralist communities economically, socially and politically.
Empowering the grassroot woman.
Our goal is to give a voice to indigenous women through education, creating alternative sources of livelihood and eradication of harmful practices.
