WASH Programme

Our goal as Nasaru Women CBO is to give a voice to indigenous women through education, creating alternative sources of livelihood and eradication of harmful cultural practices. Girls in indigenous communities face various challenges in their search for education.

A major challenge for the girls in the remote areas is missing school when on their menstrual cycle. Sanitary towels which should be made free and easily accessible to all women and girls are a rare commodity to find due to poverty and little exposure.

We at Nasaru came up with measures to make sanitary towels available ensuring the girls education isn’t interrupted. Currently the organization has five schools in the WASH programme where sanitary towels and tissue papers are given to girls free of charge.

WASH programme has been running since 2013 with contributions from staff, friends of Nasaru and well-wishers.
